Since its creation in 2008, the award-winning My Radio Festival, or MR Fest (pronounced “Mister Fest”), has become a platform for local and regional indie artists to showcase their talent in a live and exciting atmosphere. Held in San Marcos’s entertainment mecca, “The Square,” MR Fest includes the participation of many local businesses, venues and bars. MR Fest has grown over the last six years from entertaining 200 fans to nearly 5,000 in 2012.
Headliners have included some of Austin’s most accomplished acts: White Denim, Quiet Company, The Bright Light Social Hour, Zeale, Ume, and Black Joe Lewis and The Honey Bears. Mayor Daniel Guerrero and the city of San Marcos have declared the last weekend of April, “MR Fest Weekend,” an official San Marcos holiday. The festival has also garnered national attention from College Broadcasters Incorporated, winning first place for “Best Community Involvement” in 2010 and again in 2012.
