KTSW Sports DepartmentThe KTSW Sports Department provides professional broadcasting talent for Texas State University and the surrounding San Marcos area. We train our staff members to become proficient in play-by-play announcing, color announcing, board operations, sports show hosting and co-hosting, sports reporting, and using popular social mediums such as blogs and Twitter. Our stated goal at the KTSW Sports Department is to become the best college radio sports department in the entire country, and we are quickly advancing towards that goal. Former KTSW Sports Director Brant Freeman won the 2003 CBI national Play-by-Play award for student broadcasters, and also took 1st place in Play-by-play in the 2003 Southwest Journalism Conference. Both were won for his work in Eugene, Oregon, where he called the Texas State Women's Basketball NCAA tournament game against Louisiana State University. Fellow KTSW Announcer Jim Bob Breazale placed 2nd in the SWJC for his work with KTSW Announcer Lindsey Roberts for their call of the Texas State Women's Basketball game against McNeese St. KTSW will be responsible for airing a number of sports this year, including Texas State Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Women’s Volleyball, Baseball, Softball, and San Marcos High School Football. More info about broadcast times and schedules can be found in the “Sports Schedules” tab located in the Sports section of this website. |
