Artist: Lightspeed Champion Album: Falling Off The Lavender Bridge

Label: Domino

Synopsis: What we have here is Devonte Hynes' first full length as a solo artist. Hynes was formerly in the band Test Icicles. This album is basically Hynes making some pop-folk music with many of his famous friends, like The Faint's drummer Clark Baechle, members of Cursive and Tilly and the Wall, and back up vocals by Emmy the Great. The music is pretty good, save for the fact that it has all been done before and it sounds exactly like Bright Eyes. It stinks that the best songs have profanity, because this music is right up KTSW's alley.

Recommended Tracks:

*2. "Galaxy Of The Lost" – A pretty pop track, that starts with a sweet violin intro and then turns into a sort of alt-country, piano diddy. Nice

*9. "Dry Lips" – This sounds like a euro-pop song, which makes sense, since Hynes is from
London, but it really shows on this song. Also has sort of a bluegrass intro.

*10. "Everyone I Know Is Listening To Crunk" – A very upbeat pop/folk song, with a sort of twangy guitar  in the background and angelic female backing vocals making some oohs and aahs.

11. “Let The B*tches Die” – This song adds some banjo to the formula. A faster banjo riff characterizes this song, which slows down in some places for ambient guitar solos.
