Summer/ Fall 2017 Application

KTSW Application for Employment

Application Deadline: March 31, by 5:00 p.m.


  • Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • All applicants must be enrolled at Texas State University.
  • All applicants must complete the online form and attach a current résumé and Catsweb Transcript below to apply.
  • All applicants applying for multiple positions, can only be hired in up to three departments.
  • All applicants must provide a personal statement that tells us a little bit about themselves.   

KTSW volunteer applicants must have a minimum semester, Texas State & Overall GPA of 2.0 and be an enrolled student. A minimum semester, Texas State & Overall GPA of 2.0 and enrollment at Texas State University must be maintained for the duration of the term as a KTSW employee.

Program Department

KTSW’s Programming Department oversees everything that goes on air. Many get their start by deejaying a shift or two. Eventually, a select few of our DJs evolve into our specialty show hosts, getting to choose the theme and music for a show.

Music Department

KTSW’s Music Department receives new music on a day-to-day basis from various record labels and promoters to add to our library. Our music journalists give these a listen and select the cream of the crop from music's independent and lesser known artists.

Production Department

KTSW’s Production Department is responsible for everything that goes on between the music and live announcements. Our production assistants produce elements such as Public Service Announcements, promos, legal IDs and more, using creative sound effects, music and voices.

Promotions Department

KTSW’s promotions department is the face of KTSW. Our promotions assistants represent us at on and off-campus events, including our biggest annual event, MR Fest (My Radio Festival) held the last weekend of April in San Marcos.

News Department

KTSW’s News Department is the source for campus and community news. Our newscast airs Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Our reporters are sent out to cover beats and assist in producing our 30-minute specialty news show, In The Public Interest.

KTSW’s Sports Department covers a wide variety of sports from San Marcos High School football to Texas State volleyball, basketball and more. Our sports staff can have the chance to broadcast during Sports Updates, to our one-hour sports talk show Bobcat Radio, to performing play-by-plays and color commentary, as well as learning technical skills with our remote broadcasts and running the in-studio board.

Other Side Drive

Other Side Drive is KTSW’s drive-time, variety show airing Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Other Side Drive pulls all KTSW departments together through newscasts, sports updates, music reviews and more. This is also our request block, hosted by our best DJ talent with interesting segments and live in-studio sessions.

Social Media Department

KTSW’s Social Media Department oversees all of our social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. Our social media content contributors suggest, create and assist in scheduling weekly postings to promote what is going on within their department. They're the online face of KTSW!

Web Content Department

KTSW’s Web Content Department is responsible for the station’s online presence on our WordPress blog. KTSW Web Editors and Contributors suggest, create and format blog posts and assist in maintaining relevant pages for their respective departments.

Sales Department

KTSW’s Sales Department is responsible for selling our non-commercial radio station. Like professional account executives, ours represent us by setting up meetings with businesses as potential sponsors.

Graphics Department

KTSW’s Graphics Department is responsible for working with the KTSW graphic designer in creating (including but not limited to) show posters, business documents, specialty show graphics, three newspaper ads/week, t-shirts, stickers, web graphics. The Graphic Design assistant will aid in the creation and design of KTSW events. They will be generating ideas for promotional events, newspaper advertisements, concert series, specialty shows, and more. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite necessary

Multimedia Department

KTSW’s Multimedia Department is responsible for developing and creating all video, photo and illustration content for the radio station, whether it be for news, sports, Other Side Drive, or any other department or project. Previous experience and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

Community Relations

KTSW's Community Relations Department is responsible for interfacing and promoting the radio station to various organizations and entities. The department will be in charge of all outgoing press releases, fundraising efforts, PSA campaigns and more. Previous public relations experience is preferred.

Work Study

An applicant will not be considered if he/she cannot provide proof of a work study award.
